Large NICU Knitted Beanie / Hat Pattern

A huge thank you to our lovely Lise for playing around with the pattern to get it right for our needs.



We have enough SMALL size for now and would like to ask those of our volunteers who are knitting to please start making the hats using this pattern.


THE PATTERN

KNITTING PATTERN – YARN KNOT ALONE

NAKO SATEN- Needle size 3,5 mm – Size Large

Knitted on 5 open ended needles or back and forth on 2 needles 
(2 needles require sewing together after finished).   

Cast on 72 stitches. 

K2 P2 first row. Repeat 10 rows. 
Knit with stockinette stitch for an additional 3,5 inches. 
Begin decrease. 
K6, K2tog, repeat for the rest of the row. Knit one plain round.
K5, K2tog, repeat for the rest of the round. Knit one plain round. 
K4, K2tog, repeat for the rest of the round. Knit one plain round. 
K3, K2tog, repeat for the rest of the round. Knit one plain round. 
K2, K2tog, repeat for the rest of the round. Knit one plain round. 
Pull tread through the remaining stitches, tighten and bind off.

The finished product should measure approximately 5 inches width and 6 inches long.
