Mask Buddies / Ear Savers patterns

Here is our YKAM pattern for a mask buddy / ear saver that we have tried and tested well. We like this one because it can be several sizes by using the buttons. There are MANY different patterns and You Tube tutorials and all types are greatly appreciated.

We will have a collection point on Monday morning 14th Dec at Mood Cafe MQ 9.30am for an hour or so.

All mask buddies / ear savers will be sent on to hospitals here in Oman for front line workers.

Mask Buddy / Ear Saver type A.
Adjustable Mask Buddy / Ear Saver
SL ST - Slip Stitch
CH- Chain
HDC - Half Double Crochet (US) (HDT = Half Double Treble in UK)
SC - Single Crochet (US) (DC in UK)
Start with a Slip Knot and leave a long tail to use to secure your buttons once completed.
Chain 33 Into the 2nd chain from the hook HDC and then in every chain to the end (32 stitches)
Turn Chain 2 this will count as your first HDC, HDC into the fist stitch and next 6 (8 HDC including the chain up)
Chain 2 and skip over the next 2 stitches HDC into the 3rd stitch and then into the next 12 (13 HDC) Chain 2 and skip over the next 2 stitches HDC into the 3rd stitch and then the next 7 to the end (8HDC) (32 stitches total row)
Turn Chain 2, and HDC to the end. This will be HDC into next 8 stitches, 2 HDC in gap over the chain 2 below, 13 HDC, 2 HDC into gap over the chain 2 below, 7 HDC.
You may choose to end your mask body here or continue to add a row of SC around the border.
If adding a SC border … turn ch 1, ch 1, sc into same stitch, this created a corner. sc in ever stitch to the end , in the corners do an sc, ch 1, sc. Slip stitch into the first chain when you complete the round.
Leave a long tail and thread it through to the other end and use this to secure the buttons.
To make these Mask Buddys shorter in length simply turn the buttons in and go through the next hole.
