80 and counting !

(Spoiler alert - Answer Below)

Our Yarn Knot Alone group met again today to checkin on our progress, discuss and plan the growth, review patterns and yarns, and combine our finished hats. What a beautiful array of colours, all so soft for those wee little preemie babies!

Everyone has been busy this past week, thank you ladies!

We are super keen to get more people involved, our challenge has been ensuring there are enough Loom Sets available in Ghafoor in Al Khuwair which is our main supplier. For the baby hats we are stipulating particular yarns that have been approved for the baby's precious skin so it is important that we have these yarns in supply before everyone gets excited to start and then finds there are no looms or approved yarns in stock. Please bear with us while we work with Ghafoor to increase their stock levels.

I have been compiling a "YKAM Starter Kit" for those in my group. For 8 rials you have the equipment and approved yarn you need  to start straight away!  These kits include the Loom Set, Hook and Darning needle, 2 balls of yarn, counter, and clip.

** (Kits may include 2 Sateen or 2 Baby Yarn)

If you are arranging a small group to learn and would like these arranged beforehand please discuss with me.

In the posts to come over the next few days you will find ...

1. How to Knit Loom our YKAM NICU Beanie Hat (for beginner and up).
2. How to Crochet our YKAM NICU Beanie Hat (for experienced crocheters).
3. How to Start a YKAM group.
4. Our Monthly meeting format, where, when etc.
5. Update on the APPROVED YARN for the NICU beanies.
6. Blankets for the hospitals. (a great way to use up all that yarn you have at home).

Our MINIMUM target to meet the needs of the NICU at The Royal Hospital and Khoula Hospital is 200 beanies PER MONTH.

YES!!  200 MINIMUM

Please consider if you could host a regular coffee group that meets and yarns hats for YKAM NICU.

Thanks for stopping by ...
